Spider bite symptoms – general info

It is impossible to know in advance how a person will react to a spider bite, since the reaction is influenced by a wide range of factors. The spider species and which type of venom this species produce is naturally very important, but two persons bitten by the same spider species can still develop completely different symptoms. The amount of injected venom is of great importance, and how deep this venom was delivered and into which limb may also have a significant impact on the spider bite symptoms.

Spider bite symptoms are also highly depending on individual factors and different persons can display different venom sensitivity. Receiving a spider bite is typically less dangerous for a healthy adult person, than for a child, an elderly person or someone with underlying health problems, such as heart conditions.

Learning how to recognize spider bite symptoms is important, since this will make it easier for you to realise that you may have been bitten by a spider and seek proper medical attention. Many highly dangerous spiders can deliver bites that are virtually pain free at the actual bite moment. Black widow spider bites can for instance take 30-40 minutes to notice and Brown recluse spider venom sometimes need up to 8 hours to cause an injury severe enough for you to notice. The sooner you seek medical attention the better when it comes to highly dangerous poisonous spiders, and recognizing even diffuse symptoms are therefore important.

The Black widow spider and the Brown recluse spider are two of the most dreaded spider species in the United States. Both spiders have been the cause of fatalities, but dying from a spider bite is actually really uncommon, especially for healthy adults. These spiders can however cause really nasty spider bite symptoms in their victims, and if you know or suspect that you have been bitten by any of them you should seek immediate medical attention.
